The Equal Rights Law Group’s civil suit against the University of New Mexico and the NCAA is featured in the 8/31/20 New York Times article, ‘Family Accuses College of Forcing Ailing Son to Play Football.’ Equal Rights Law Group Founder, Mika Hilaire, is co-counseling the civil suit, along with renowned national civil rights and personal injury attorney Ben Crump, and Texas trial lawyer Bob Hillard. Hilaire, Crump, Hillard, and the family of Nahje Flowers, a University of New Mexico football player who killed himself in November, have accused the college of forcing the then-ailing Nahje to play football when he wasn’t well. Flowers’ family said the university did not give him the mental health treatment he needed.
